Science Museum Symposium on Sustainable Buildings 2030 (SB 2030)

Thursday, January 10, 2019 1:00PM - 6:00PM

The Future of SB 2030: The Business Case, Electric Vehicles, Operations, and Mechanical Systems

Session Description
The SB 2030 program has been very successful since inception in providing guidance on energy efficiency in buildings in Minnesota. As the program moves closer to 2020, when the efficiency targets will move to 80%, the program is evolving to meet the needs of sustainable development in Minnesota. This program will explore fours areas (building the business case, integrating electric vehicles, operating for high performance and design considerations for 80%) and provide tours of the Science Museums innovative mechanical system.

Cost is $30/person, parking included. Appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
3.5 AIA LU/HSW, Course # SB2030-19A

Learning Objectives

  • Understand and articulate the business case for high performance (SB 2030) buildings.
  • Explore the projects for electric vehicles in Minnesota and consider ways the will integrate with buildings.
  • Analyze and critique plans for operating SB 2030 for high performance results.
  • Evaluate and apply new mechanical design techniques, technologies and systems to achieve the performance required for buildings to use 80% less energy than the typical building in 2003.
