About
The program offers a hot dinner, access to case management staff, showers, and a bed on a nightly basis for men oveer 18. The low-barrier shelter is open from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily pending weather alerts issued by DC government. Shuttle service to downtown Washington, DC is provided several times per day to assist clients in getting to and from work, day programs and other resources. The shelter also serves as a hypothermia emergency shelter during the coldest months of the year..

Activity 
Volunteers will be participating in a clean-up project. Activities will range from scrubbing to sweeping to maintain a clean environment for clients in need. Gloves and cleaning supplies will be provided for volunteers. While the shelter is not open to the public during the project, a few clients may be present at the shelter.

Parking
On street parking only. The closest metro stop is Rhode Island Ave (approx. 2 miles).

Arrival
Upon arrival volunteers should look for Gopher signage where a point person will be to direct you.

What to Wear
Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and clothes they do not mind getting messy.  Please travel light: no big bags or backpacks and leave valuables at home.

Age
All volunteers must be of high school age or older. Minors who participate in the project must be accompanied by an adult and have the attached waiver form filled out by a parent or guardian.
