Urban Ventures is a nonprofit focused breaking the cycle of poverty through programs and social enterprises that empower, equip and support youth and families to take control of their futures. Their social enterprise arm (where we'll be volunteering) addresses urban food insecurity and poor nutrition in a sustainable way.
Tasks are dependent on the day and season, but will likely include pulling up dead plants, cleaning, raking, and other tasks needed to prepare our urban farm for winter.
What to Wear
Volunteers should dress in clothing and shoes that can get dirty and are appropriate for the weather. Dressing in layers is encouraged. We will provide all needed farming equipment (including work gloves). Volunteers should bring water bottles, hats, sunscreen (if needed), jackets, etc.
