Saturday, October 14, 2017 9:00AM - 12:00PM

Lead Volunteer
Tom Lavaty

The mission of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is to feed hungry people by soliciting and distributing food and household items through partner agencies. Second Harvest works to educate people in the community about the nature of and solutions to hunger. Second Harvest supplies food through a network of over 700 emergency pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and programs for low-income children and seniors.

Volunteers will assist with inspecting and sorting food or non-food products, which will then be boxed and distributed to partner agencies.

Volunteers may park in gravel lot across from the food bank, in neighbor’s parking lot (Crisis Assistance Ministry) or in the street. The door into the lobby is on the parking lot side of the construction fence.

Please arrive 15 minutes before shift to sign-in and make a name tag.

Must wear closed-toe shoes (as per OSHA requirement) and comfortable clothing.

Volunteers must be 17 year of age or older.

Additional Information
Volunteers are provided bottled water. No food, drinks, chewing gum, headphones or cellular devices are permitted in the warehouse Please arrive on time: anyone arriving after the start of orientation may be put into a different group and not with alumni and friends. For those participating in the food sorting room, there is a mandatory food instruction class.
