The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, one of the largest international associations of education institutions, has named Minnesota Alumni magazine a bronze award winner of its 2017 Circle of Excellence awards program. The University of Minnesota Alumni Association’s quarterly magazine was recognized for its winter 2017 special reader-written issue on Aging. A panel of experts selected the Alumni Association’s entry in the Special Issues category from among 41 entries.
“In this issue, Minnesota Alumni takes a look at aging by inviting their readership (average age 55) to contribute,” the judges wrote. “Inviting the readership to contribute to the issue was an innovative approach. This results in a highly personal look at a difficult and often ignored topic. Beautiful use of black and white portraiture only enhanced the written content,” they said.
